Charity Shop 1st Birthday The Kaleidoscope Plus Group’s service user involvement strategy, People In Mind (PIM) celebrated our charity shop’s 1st Birthday since officially opening on July 2.

A year since the grand opening, the shop has a raised over £2,000 selling clothes, unwanted household goods and other bric-a-brac items with all proceeds going towards helping people who suffer with mental ill health; providing them with help, support and information through a range of services the charity offer.

The charity shop has also supported many service users in emergency crisis due to being rehoused and having limited funds by providing crisis boxes which include essentials such as cutlery, bedding, clothing and other essential kitchen appliances.

Community Engagement and Fundraising Coordinator, Kirstie Barnes is not surprised with the success of the charity shop and puts it down to hard work over the past 12 months.

She said: “I envisioned the first day the charity shop opened it would succeed and I have been proven right.

“We have raised a massive amount of money in such a short period time and I can only put that down to generosity and the vast array of donated goods we have had coming in to sell as well as all the hard work from everybody who works in the shop.

“Not only have we raised money for the charity, but along the way we have also supported lots of service users in desperate need of help by giving them crisis boxes.

“I would like to say an enormous thank you to all the service users, volunteers and PIM member for all their help with the charity over the past year as they’ve made the shop what it is today a year on from its opening.”

The Charity Shop is based at The Kaleidoscope Plus Group head office, Hawthorns House, on the ground floor of the building and is open Monday-Friday from 11:00am – 03:00pm.
