The Kaleidoscope Plus Group held its very own Sports Family Fun Day for staff, volunteers, service users and their families and friends to enjoy during the first week of August.

The fun day was created by KEEP – a group of employees at the charity representing each service/department within the organisation.

The sports day played host to an array of competitive sports games from rounder’s to the traditional relay races – all in the name of fun!

Local caterers, Monty’s cooked up a summer BBQ with delicious burgers, hot dogs and spicy wings which proved to be a delicious lunchtime treat.

The afternoon brought the fun day to an end with a group hula-hoop activity led by Primary Mental Health Workers, Wendy Sorby, Rebecca Mainstone and Natasha Angell, a healthy eating fruit-kebab workshop facilitated by Wellbeing Worker, Liz Rogers and a mindfulness session taken by Rosemarie Charlton.

Wellbeing Co-ordinator and KEEP member, Dave Pickard organised the Sports Family Fun Day.

He said: “The family fun day was easily accessible as it was jam-packed with exciting activities for everybody of all of abilities to join in.

“With a great selection of food and beverages on offer as well a relaxing mindfulness session, there was something for everyone!”

Our Chief Executive, Monica Shafaq also attended the Sports Family Fun Day alongside her family and believes it allowed employees who wouldn’t regularly communicate with each other to build a real bond.

She said: “Having had conversations with many members of staff, I know that all who attended the fun day found it an enjoyable way of having fun whilst getting to know their colleagues a little better.

“It was also great to hear the special day encouraged staff and service users to spend quality time with their friends and family who also attended.

“I’d like to say a huge thank you to Dave Pickard who led in organising the day, along with Wendy Sorby, Rebecca Mainstone, Natasha Angell, Liz Rogers, Rosemarie Charlton and Lisa Swift who all played an active part in making sure that we had a great day.”
