At the start of June, The Kaleidoscope Plus Group’s Community Offer service hosted a 1960’s themed tea dance party at West Bromwich Town Hall for anybody 65 and over to attend.
The Community Offer helps people 65 and over to access a range of support in their own community and in their homes, acting as gateway to access and connect with existing services and groups in their local area that may benefit them such as: Community Alarms, handy-person services, social groups or befriending services, all in one place. The service aims help older people maintain their independence at home and stay involved in their local community, despite barriers of health and limited mobility.
The tea dance, which took place on June 1st, was a great opportunity for the elderly community across Sandwell to get out and enjoy themselves as many of them may have become isolated due to their old age.
Community Offer Coordinator at The Kaleidoscope Plus Group, Rachel Stavlo organised the tea dance and was happy all the elderly in the borough came along to enjoy the tea dance.
She said: “I’m glad many of the 65 and over based in the Sandwell area came along and enjoyed the fun.
“There was lots of dancing from Sequence, Ballroom Latin and Line and even those who didn’t feel like dancing still had a great time with lots of tea and cakes.
“The best thing of all it didn’t cost our service users a penny and gave them all a fantastic opportunity to meet some new friends and relieve the 60’s!”
The next Sandwell Community Offer Tea Dance will be held at West Bromwich Community Centre, Gayton Rd on Thursday 28th July from 1:00pm – 4:00pm. Please call Rachel Stavlo on 0121 565 5605 for further information.
