Monica Shafaq becomes an honorary member of The Leaders Council of Great Britain and Northern Ireland

Monica Shafaq, CEO of national mental health and wellbeing charity, The Kaleidoscope Plus Group has been made an honorary member of The Leaders Council of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in their bid to recognise the leadership figures who have helped keep the country running during this unprecedented period in our history.

The Council recognises leaders who adhere to the Council’s principles which amongst other things, include leaders who treat all colleagues, customers and clients with the utmost courtesy and respect; commit to making a positive social and environmental impact and those who conduct all affairs not just for the benefit of their own organisation but for the benefit of the sector and country at large. Monica has pledged to adhere to The Leaders Council’s Charter of Principles and to do everything possible to help aid our nation’s recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic.

Commenting on this nationwide push to recognise leaders such as Monica Shafaq, Lord Blunkett, chairman of The Leaders Council of Great Britain and Northern Ireland said, “Keeping an organisation in operation during this period is no small feat and it is our belief that the thousands of leadership figures across the country deserve a greater level of recognition.

“We are very fortunate to have so many dedicated leaders in this country and this is our small way of recognising them and the contribution they make.”

Monica Shafaq, who has been the CEO at the charity since 2010 and has dedicated her career to promoting the role of women and BAME individuals in leadership roles said,

“I’m humbled to have become an honorary member of the Leaders Council of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.  Leading a charity can be challenging at the best of times but has been particularly difficult this year with the impact of the pandemic, and in particular the devastating effects it has had on the nation’s mental health.”

The Leaders Council of Great Britain and Northern Ireland was set up to support and champion leadership in all its forms.
