Radio Station Volunteer

Hours: Flexible
Location: Sandwell and the Black Country

Have you got what it takes to be part of the Radio Volunteer?

We would like a team of volunteers to help put a monthly radio show together for The Kaleidoscope Plus Group’s own monthly radio show with Black Country Radio Xtra.

We’re looking for fun motivated people with confidence, a get-stuck-in attitude confident, approachable, and professional but above all who have a real passion for KPG. If you think you fit the bill apply now!

You must be able to commit to a minimum of at least 3 hours per week or more volunteer time to KPG with a combination of time for preparation and at recordings at Black Country Radio Xtra and be prepared to attend station meetings and community and promotional events throughout the year when requested. 

Self-Harm Group Facilitator

Hours: 1st Tuesday of each month 5.30pm – 7.30pm plus  flexibility required for training and meetings
Location: Mainly in Sandwell and other Black Country areas
Closing Date: Ongoing recruitment, subject to availability.

If you are looking for a supportive role and new challenge, then this is just the role for you. You will learn the necessary skills to support people affected by self-harm. Our new support group based at 321 Hope Place, High Street, West Bromwich offers a safe space for people to come together and talk openly about their experiences. The group sessions are facilitated by trained professionals and volunteers who bring with them the skills and knowledge around coping with self-harm and the stigma around it. You may have had your own experience of self-injury or mental health difficulties or be keen to learn more about this area of work.

Suicide Virtual Bereavement Support Facilitator

Hours: Must be available 3rd Tuesday of each month from 6pm – 8pm plus flexibility for training and meetings
Location: Virtual and Online

At KPG, we provide Suicide Bereavement Support Services for people who have been bereaved by suicide. We offer a blended approach to our support offering face to face and virtual sessions and we are looking to offer a volunteer role to our virtual group. Our support groups offer a safe space for people who have been bereaved by suicide to come together and talk openly about their experience. The group sessions are facilitated by trained professionals and volunteers who bring with them the skills and knowledge around coping with grief, loss and bereavement. It may feel daunting to join the virtual meeting and join other people, but as a volunteer you will support them from the offset to ensure clients feel accepted and be able to talk freely and openly or simply just listen to the experience of others.

Self-Harm Virtual Group Facilitator

Hours: One /Two Tuesdays a month – both day and evening support sessions available
Location: Virtual / Online

Volunteer Counsellor

Hours: 3 per week minimum
Location: West Bromwich
Closing Date: Ongoing recruitment, subject to availability.

As a Volunteer Counsellor you will be offered the opportunity to primarily work with adults, although there may be occasions that you may have the opportunity to work with young people (aged 16 years plus). This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is wishing to return back into counselling/ therapeutic work, for those who would like some experience working within a mental health charity, to upskill, to support on going practise, or for someone who would simply like to give back to their local or neighbouring area or completing their accreditation.

Student Counsellor

Hours: 3 per week minimum
Location: West Bromwich
Closing Date: Ongoing recruitment, subject to availability.

We are looking for a student counsellor, to provide a high quality counselling to clients aged 16 and over to those who have self-referred or have been referred into our service. Counselling will be provided using a blended approach of face-to-face, online and telephone counselling.
This post offers student counsellors the opportunity to complete their placement hours with us, maintain and develop their counselling skills, be part of a nationally recognized mental health organization.

Business Development and Fundraising Assistant

Hours: 5-10 a week
Location: West Bromwich

To work with and assist the Head of Business Development and Fundraising with the planning, implementation, marketing of fundraising activities and organising events.

Search Engine Optimisation Specialist

Hours: 5-10 a week
Location: Online

We are looking for online volunteers who have prior experience and knowledge in search engine optimization and Google website traffic analytics.
We prefer candidates with IT background who could complete the task within the stipulated time frame. Online Volunteers will get due credit for their contribution. Orientation will be given to all volunteers.

Community Events Volunteer

Hours: Ad-Hoc
Location: West Midland
Closing Date: Ongoing

Event Volunteers help to deliver a variety of different events at Kaleidoscope from planning and preparation to setting up and running activities on the day. It’s about offering something fun and memorable for visitors and encouraging them to return and tell their friends about us. This is a flexible and ad hoc role (See our events page for larger events). We have lots of smaller local events during the year and plenty of notice will be given to the volunteer in advance.

Telephone Befrienders

Hours: Flexible
Location: Based in Sandwell, flexible

As a Team KPG telephone volunteer you will provide regular, friendly and person-centred conversations with people living in Sandwell. You will be matched with people based on their interests and preferences. Your involvement will support people to feel less isolated and will focus on each individual’s strengths, helping them to remain connected, feel valued and more confident.
Volunteers will undertake induction training which covers role boundaries, lone working, safeguarding and confidentiality.

Community Befrienders

Hours: Flexible
Location: Based in Sandwell, flexible

Our Community Befrienders will play a key role in supporting residents already connected to our services by regular visits, accompanying them on journeys to the shops, leisure activities, open spaces and social events suited to their needs, hobbies, and interests, facilitating peer support to empower them and instil a sense of belonging again.
There are lots of different ways that you can help, whether signing up for flexible or regular volunteering, there really is something for everyone.
Volunteers will undertake induction training which covers role boundaries, lone working, safeguarding and confidentiality.
