Be Creative Volunteer

Hours: 5-10 hours per week
Location: Sandwell area
Closing Date: Ongoing recruitment

Would you like play a huge part of this new project at KPG?
It’s estimated that one in ten children and young people (CYP) have a diagnosable mental health disorder and are therefore likely to face inequalities in their lives, particularly when childhood mental health issues continue to adulthood.
It is evident that the pandemic and lockdown restrictions have had a further negative impact on CYP’s mental health. Issues relating to uncertainty about the future, loneliness, lack of peer contact and loss of coping mechanisms have been key drivers of this. However there will be a significant period of time before the true extent of the pandemic’s impact on mental health is known.
Evidence shows that participation in structured arts activities for CYP helps build resilience and contributes to positive mental wellbeing. Reported outcomes from arts for CYP’s wellbeing programmes include increased confidence, increased self-esteem, sense of achievement, empowerment, social skills and positive behaviour changes.
Our project will support CYP with mental health needs across Sandwell by delivering co-produced, impactful activities and therapy, proven to see measurable improvement, equipping children with techniques, skills and creative outlets to aid their mental and emotional wellbeing, which will serve them, and their communities, for life.
