We’re delighted to announce that the Midlands Legends Golf Day held last month raised a fantastic £1607.64!
This would fund the equivalent of 26 counselling sessions for a person struggling with their mental health and wellbeing.
The event, which took place on March 10 saw former footballers from seven Midlands clubs trying their hand at a round of golf alongside members of the public.
Leicester City’s Alan Smith, Aston Villa’s Stephen Warnock and West Bromwich Albion’s Chris Brunt were just some of the names who took part in the event at Forest of Arden Golf Club, an 18-hole course, in Birmingham. Talksport’s Tom Ross compered the day.
Gary Wheway, Head of Business Development and Fundraising said: “We are so grateful to Watson Metters Golf for staging this fantastic event and raising funds to help support our early intervention mental health and wellbeing services, which are vital and save hundreds of lives each year.
“Post pandemic we are stretched like never before and donations and events are so important to help us continue this vital work.”
Organiser Mike Watson from Watson Metters Golf said: “We are absolutely delighted to have worked alongside the brilliant KPG for The Midlands Legends Golf Day.
“The team do such essential work helping champion mental health and making real change to those who need it most. Since the Covid-19 pandemic, the charity has seen an increased demand for its services. Given the majority of its fundraising activities had to cease during the pandemic, it has highlighted the need to get behind KPG so the team can continue to provide essential support to those who need it most.
“We are proud to work alongside such a fantastic group of people and we look forward to raising more and more over the coming years, as The Midlands Legends Golf Day and dinner will become an annual event. Roll on March 30th, 2023, at Forest of Arden!”
