Black Country Housing Group (BCHG) is celebrating after being named The Kaleidoscope Plus Group’s Health & Wellbeing Business of the Year
The organisation beat off tough competition from across the UK to scoop the award which was presented in recognition of BCHG’s commitment to investing in the health and wellbeing of its employees.
BCHG, which employs over 200 people, has made the health and wellbeing of employees one of its key priorities. The organisation has worked hard to highlight health and wellbeing issues to its staff in a number of different of different ways; through in-house workshops on mental health, by offering free health screening and nutrition advice and by providing access to a confidential colleague help line that offer support on legal, health, consumer, relationship and financial issues.
With an ambition to not only be a great employer but a great place to work, BCHG believes that a happy, engaged workforce helps it to deliver excellence in providing quality, affordable housing, employment advice as well as personalised care and support services across the Black Country and Birmingham.
This latest award comes off the back of two significant milestones for BCHG. Earlier this year it was placed 71st in the Sunday Times ‘Top Not-For-Profit to Work For’ 2014 and in August, the organisation was awarded Investors in People gold status, the highest level of employer recognition for people management.
Carrie Thomas, Head of HR at BCHG said:
“The health and wellbeing of our staff is of the utmost importance to BCHG.
“In supporting our colleagues’ wellbeing we’re working to create a happy and engaged workforce, which in turn helps us to deliver excellent customer service to local people across the Black Country and Birmingham.”
Our Chief Executive, Monica Shafaq added:
“I would like to congratulate Carrie and everyone associated with Black Country Housing Group (BCHG) on winning our inaugural Health & Wellbeing Business of the Year Award.
“The competition was strong but for us they were the standout nomination when it came to demonstrating a comprehensive committed approach to investing in the health and wellbeing of their employees.
“There is no doubt in our mind BCHG go above and beyond in ensuring the health and wellbeing of their workforce is paramount and hopefully winning this award will go some way to them getting the credit they fully deserve.”
