Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) are celebrating after winning The Kaleidoscope Plus Group’s Health & Wellbeing Business of the Year 2015
MHFA were runners up in 2014 for the award however this year the organisation overcame fierce competition throughout the UK to win the prestigious award.
MHFA, who have trained over 1200 instructors in England who have delivered the MHFA courses to over 100,000 people, have made the health and wellbeing of all their employees paramount.
The organisation has worked with great effort to address health and wellbeing concerns to its staff in numerous different ways; by offering regular breaks and proper lunch breaks, encouraging staff to set themselves personal objectives as well as work ones and by introducing employee wellbeing as a standing agenda within monthly staff one-to-ones.
With an aspiration to not only be a great employer, but to be a great environment to work in, MHFA believes that the health and wellbeing of its workforce is imperative to achieve this.
This recent award comes just a month after the organisation was accredited a Living Wage Employer – an hourly rate set independently and updated annually.
The Living Wage is calculated according to the basic cost of living using the ‘Minimum Income Standard’ for the UK.
Fionuala Bonnar, Chief Operating Officer at MHFA said: “As an organisation founded to promote good mental, we practice what we preach.
“At MHFA England regular breaks and proper lunch-breaks are strongly encouraged.
“Wellbeing policies like these are detailed in black and white in the induction pack all our new starters get.
“We work really hard to develop team spirit with regular team lunches, social events – even trips to our local food markets as well as fun away days, as a team bonding exercise, are an annual fixture in the calendar.
“We know a happy, high-achieving workforce who all look out for each other not only reduces stress, but boosts productivity.”
