Our Chief Executive, Monica Shafaq has been appointed Non-Executive Director at the Sport and Recreation Alliance.
Joining the board alongside Monica are Lizzie Noel and Caroline White, ensuring that the Alliance board is balanced, inclusive and highly skilled, while reflecting the diversity.
The recruitment process used to appoint Monica, Lizzie and Caroline follows the approach set out in the Alliance’s new governance framework, The Principles of Good Governance for Sport and Recreation, which supports all board members in achieving the highest standards of good governance.
The Sport and Recreation Alliance provide advice, support and guidance to their members and the sector which represent traditional governing bodies of games and sport, county sports partnerships, outdoor recreation, water pursuits, and movement and dance exercise. As the voice of the sector, they work with Government, policy makers and the media to make sure grassroots sport and recreation grows and thrives.
Monica was appointed to the board due to her in-depth knowledge regarding mental health and wellbeing as well as her provision and good governance.
Monica was thrilled to be selected as part of the board and is hopeful she can help the Sport and Recreation Alliance.
