IMG_1771 On August 1, SOS – Silence Of Suicide and The Kaleidoscope Plus Group hosted a family fundraising fun day at Langar Airfield in memory of Hope Garner’s father, with Hope Garner’s 10,000ft sky dive taking centre stage.

The fun day was actioned-packed with a number of exciting activities available to all from children’s face painting to William the Wizard’s Magic Show.

Hope’s decision to do the sky dive was following the loss of her father who sadly took his own life in the summer of 2014. Hope was raising funds for SOS – Silence Of Suicide and The Kaleidoscope Plus Group who began working in partnership this year and was successful in doing so raising a total of £4,621.75 with an astonishing 105 unique donors, all through her Virgin Money Giving page.

Other than raising funds for the charity, Hope aimed to make difference and help anyone suffering with mental health problems by raising awareness of both SOS – Silence Of Suicide and The Kaleidoscope Plus Group.

Hope was overjoyed to have raised such a significant amount and was thankful to all of those who supported her.

She said: “I would like to say thank you to all of those who were kind enough donate towards my fundraising efforts.

“I was feeling very nervous on the day of the sky dive but due to the support from everyone on the day, I managed to persevere and I can now say I would do it all again in a heartbeat.”

Chief Executive at The Kaleidoscope Plus Group, Monica Shafaq thinks it was a great way to celebrate Hope Garner’s father’s life whilst raising funds and awareness of mental ill health.

She said: “I believe a fundraiser was the perfect way to celebrate Hope’s father’s memory.

“All the money raised will go towards SOS – Silence Of Suicide which is an initiative founded by Michael Mansfield QC and Yvette Greenway following the death of Michael’s daughter by suicide in May 2015.”

Project Coordinator at The Kaleidoscope Plus Group, Stevie Hall encouraged all to attend in the Nottinghamshire area as she knew it would be a fantastic celebration.

She said: “The family fun day at Langar Airfield was a brilliant day out for the whole family and I’m glad those in the local area came along to enjoy the excitement.

“The family day was purposely scheduled in the school holidays so nobody in the family would miss out on the fun!”
