Due to popular demand, The Kaleidoscope Plus Group will be teaming up with Pets as Therapy (PAT) to officially introduce Pet Therapy as part of our weekly drop in’s for service users.
PAT provides therapeutic visits to hospitals, hospices, care homes, special needs schools and a variety of other venues with their own friendly, temperament tested and vaccinated dogs.
Pet Therapy was originally run as a pilot scheme back in early June but due to high demand for PAT registered dog, Precious from service users, the drop in will be launched in July.
Service users from the pilot scheme felt that Precious made them feel relaxed and at ease.
A service user representative for the pilot scheme said: Precious is a cute, cuddly dog that made all of us feel calm, which is great for everybody’s health and wellbeing.”
Cindy, the owner of beloved Precious knew service users would take to her immediately and was not surprised with the positive reactions.
She said: “Precious has that effect on everyone she encounters!
“People just want to hold her and even the most withdrawn people seem to open up and let the barriers down when they meet Precious.
“She doesn’t bark, and she certainly doesn’t bite so everybody instantly shows affection towards her.”
