Our service user involvement group, People In Mind (PIM) held a special celebratory event at our Head Office, Hawthorns House to recognise the hard work of PIM members.
It was a night to remember with all PIM members receiving special awards for their dedication to PIM from board of trustee, Chris Mills and was it topped off with musical performances from iTunes top 40 artist, Josh ‘Smiiffy’ Smith and PIM Volunteer of the Year 2014/2015, Peter Tay.
Community Engagement and Fundraising Coordinator, Kirstie Barnes organised the PIM event as a way to celebrate PIM’s great achievements over the last 24 months.
She said: “Having supported hundreds of individuals in the community with mental ill health, crisis and suicide prevention via a range of peer support groups and befriending, raised £16,300 from fundraising activities in the last year, had over 73 members involved in People In Mind services and won countless awards over the past two years it made perfect sense to host a PIM celebratory event.
“It is an honour to work with PIM members as every member is courageous, talented, hardworking and committed to People In Mind and the charity.
“I am extremely proud of them all and for what they have achieved and I know for sure your fellow PIM members, Kaleidoscope Plus Group colleagues, friends and family will be proud of you too!
“I would like to say a massive ‘well done’ and thank you to each and every PIM member, however small or large your involvement and commitment has been to People In Mind and The Kaleidoscope Plus Group”
Residential Support Worker at Nicholl Grange, Dawn Bradley also attended the event and believes all PIM members are worthy of the accolades they received.
She said: “PIM members do lots of fantastic voluntary work giving their time, enthusiasm, loyalty and energy to help the service.
“Many people don’t realise what they do and how it helps them to feel accepted in life but more importantly how vital the service is to maintaining their own wellbeing as well as others.
“Since PIM was created, everybody involved has given their heart and soul to the service which makes them well deserving of recognition.”
