The Kaleidoscope Plus Group have been successful in securing funding to deliver the Holiday Lunch Club Programme during school holidays, commencing in May and ending in October school half term, 2017.
The programme, which is funded by the National Charity Partnership of Tesco, the British Heart Foundation and Diabetes UK, is aimed at people in Sandwell who are in “most at risk communities” (potential risk of Type 2 Diabetes and Heart Disease).
The club encourages people to increase their physical activity, eat a more balanced diet and live a healthier lifestyle; with the target audience being mums aged 25-40 and children aged 4-12 who are living in areas of high deprivation.
Director of Operations, Claire Dale believes the Holiday Lunch Club Programme will prove beneficial as the charity will be offering 8 structured sessions with each session 2 and half hours long per session at its head office, Hawthorns House.
She said: “The funding will go a long way in helping mums across Sandwell and with the programme taking place during school holidays will only make the sessions more accessible.
“The lunch clubs will provide a platform whereby participants are motivated and incentivised to improve their health behaviours in relation to physical activity and food consumption which can only be positive”
The Holiday Lunch Club Programme will be held at Hawthorns House, Halfords Lane, West Bromwich B66 1BB starting on Tuesday 31st May from 10:00am.
