Our Sandwell based Talking Therapies service continues to improve as for the month of April 2017, NHS England figures show our recovery rate for clients was at 64%. This means we had the 9th best recovery rate out of all 164 service providers across the country for this month.

The Talking Therapies service is based on the ‘Improving Access to Psychological Therapies’ (IAPT) initiative, which is a joint project with Sandwell and West Birmingham clinical commissioning group (CCG) and Sandwell Mental Health Foundation Trust.

The nationwide IAPT service was established first in 2008 with the aim of improving access to evidence based talking therapies. The team use a range of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) based interventions with clients such as cognitive restructuring and exposure therapy.

Talking Therapies Manger, Sue Vincent, was not surprised when she heard that The Kaleidoscope Plus Group was ranked so highly by the NHS.

She said: “I was happy when I heard the news however it didn’t come as a shock.

“My team continuously support people aged 16 and above in Sandwell who are experiencing mild to moderate mental health problems such as anxiety and depression and it’s satisfying for us all to be recognised for our hard work.”

The Kaleidoscope Plus Group would like to say congratulations to the IAPT team and thank them for all of their hard work.
