#TeamKPG’s Top Tips for Selfcare over Christmas
Be honest about how you are feeling, talk to those around you. It’s important to put yourself first sometimes to look after your own Mental Health.
It can be easy to get involved with too much over Christmas. Slow down and stop. Relax and take time to recover from the busy festive season.
3. Switch Off.
Take a day away from socialising, shopping, outings and all the things that come with Christmas. Find your favourite pyjamas, switch off your phone and stay away from social media to enjoy a book, watch your favourite film or do something you’ve been meaning to do.
5. Get outside.
Cabin fever? Too many mince pies? Get yourself outside, or enjoy a trip out and enjoy the fresh air to take some time away from the house over Christmas.
6. Enjoy the present not the presents.
Try to put your phone down and enjoy the festive time, embrace the days as they come and try not to overthink and predict what may or may not happen. Enjoy the “now” with friends and family and those around you, go for a walk and look at the Christmas lights, anything that makes you happy, do that.
Reach out if you need to talk to someone. You can text our free text line service for confidential support from a trained crisis volunteer who will text you straight back. All you have to do is text “TeamKPG” to 85258 anytime, anywhere.
9. Say no.
If things are getting too much, or you have committed to a social event you no longer want to go to – cancel. Look after your own wellbeing first. It’s ok to say no.
10. Make time for yourself.
It can be a very hectic time of the year, whether its shopping, parties, family or outings it can all get on top of us. Take some well deserved time out for some “me time” and practise some self care. Why not check out our Self care Toolbox: https://www.kaleidoscopeplus.org.uk/self-help-toolbox/
