The Kaleidoscope Plus Group have been commissioned funding courtesy of the Nottinghamshire County Council that will give the opportunity to individuals to attend free mental health self-care community workshops across Nottinghamshire.

The first workshops take place at Mansfield Library 24th May and are designed to improve mental health and encourage mindfulness by focusing on the 5 ways to wellbeing; connect, be active, take notice, keep learning and give.

The Kaleidoscope Plus Group will be taking part in Arnold Library’s Health Day, May 17, for their Mental Health Awareness Campaign. Arnold Library will be hosting a number of activities including yoga, massage, blood pressure testing and The Kaleidoscope Plus Group’s mental health and wellbeing activities.

Project Coordinator at The Kaleidoscope Plus Group, Stevie Hall is thrilled about delivering the workshops.

She said: “I’m delighted to be able to deliver such fantastic workshops especially during Mental Health Awareness Week 2016 as it will increase awareness of mental health and how essential it is to all of us in living a happy and successful life.

“By focusing on the 5 ways to wellbeing during the workshops participants will learn quick and easy steps to positive mental health and the art of mindfulness.”

Nottinghamshire County Council’s Public Health Chairman, Joyce Bosnjak believes the workshops will prove beneficial as they will boost health and wellbeing.

She said: “In keeping with this year’s theme of relationships, the first top tip is to connect with the people around you, including family, friends, neighbours and colleagues.

“Our relationships are fundamental to our health and wellbeing, so it’s vital that we spend time investing in the quality of these.

“One in four of us will be experiencing a mental health problem at any given time, with the most common issues including depression, stress and anxiety.

“We hope to be able to spread the message to our local communities that people do not need to struggle alone.”

The mental health self-care community taster workshops will be taking place from 10.30am-11:00am and 11:30am-12:00pm on May 17 at Arnold Library, Nottinghamshire.
