Yoga is an ancient form of exercise that focuses on strength, flexibility and breathing to boost wellbeing.

The main components of yoga are postures, which are series of movements designed to increase strength and flexibility, and breathing.

The practice originated in India about 5,000 years ago and has been adapted in other countries in a variety of ways.

Many scientific studies suggest that yoga is a safe and effective way to increase physical activity, especially strength, flexibility and balance.

There is evidence that regular yoga practice is beneficial for people with high blood pressure, heart disease, aches and pains, depression and stress.

Community Wellbeing Services Team Leader, Heather Lomax is true believer in the benefits of yoga having seen first-hand how much it has helped service users at The Kaleidoscope Plus Group.

She said: “You are never too old for yoga.

“Our yoga groups are for all abilities and the sessions are tailored to your level of fitness.

“We deliver yoga session in the morning, afternoon and evening to accommodate all.”
