The Kaleidoscope Plus Group shines spotlight on volunteers during Volunteers Week

As Volunteers Week approaches, The Kaleidoscope Plus Group, a leading mental health and wellbeing charity, is recognising and celebrating the invaluable contributions of its dedicated volunteers. With ‘Celebrate and Inspire’ as this year’s theme, the charity hopes to inspire others to join the cause and become support those who are struggling with their emotional health and wellbeing.

Volunteers Week, observed annually from June 1st to June 7th, is a nationwide initiative that acknowledges the significant impact volunteers have on organisations and communities. Kaleidoscope Plus Group is proud to honour the remarkable individuals who generously donate their time and energy to support their mission of promoting positive mental health and wellbeing for all.

The contribution of volunteers is often unseen and unrecognised by many, visible only through the incredible impact of their volunteering, so taking the time during Volunteers’ Week to celebrate their efforts and all they contribute to our local communities, the voluntary sector and society has never been more important.

The Kaleidoscope Plus Group understands that volunteering can take many forms, from fundraising, supporting events and campaigns to providing crucial services and lending a compassionate ear.

Commenting on Volunteers Week, Monica Shafaq, CEO of The Kaleidoscope Plus Group said: “Our volunteers are the lifeblood of our organisation, and we are immensely grateful for their unwavering support. Volunteers Week provides us with a fantastic opportunity to acknowledge their incredible contributions and inspire others to embrace the power of volunteering.

“Our ethos has always been to help people on the road to feeling good again, whether that be through the support they receive or the experience they have when fundraising or volunteering for us, our FeelGood50 anniversary celebrations and volunteering week provide us an opportunity to celebrate this and the vital contribution our volunteers make every day.

“Each year it costs in excess of £2 million to keep KPG support services operational. The charity relies on the support and generosity of local people, businesses, and our fantastic volunteers to keep services running.”

Carol Wilson, Volunteer Coordinator at the Kaleidoscope Plus Group added “Volunteers’ Week is a chance to celebrate and recognise the fantastic contribution our volunteers make. Thanks to them the local community has benefited from various support offers and their tireless commitment to raising awareness and vital funds for KPG does not go unnoticed.”

KPG volunteer Alexa Capello said: “I started volunteering for KPG after being a service user myself. The Kaleidoscope Plus Group is such a lovely, supportive charity. The work we do is so rewarding and really makes a difference to those who need it most. I want to give back, because the support I received here at KPG has changed my life and saved my life.

“I would encourage anyone to get involved in volunteering and share your experiences with others.”

The Kaleidoscope Plus Group encourages everyone to participate in Volunteers Week and discover how they can make a positive impact on mental health and wellbeing. By embracing the ‘Celebrate and Inspire’ theme, individuals can find a way to get involved in volunteering that aligns with their interests, skills, and availability.
